Overview
The TOEFL iBT is a comprehensive English proficiency exam that now takes less than 2 hours to complete. It is a linear test (not adaptive), where all questions carry equal weight. The test is divided into four sections: Reading, Listening, Speaking, and Writing. One of its unique features is 'MyBest Scores,' which allows you to combine your best scores from each section from all valid tests taken in the last two years. It can be taken at a secure test center or at home.
Registration
Registration is open up to 2 days before the test, although booking 1 month in advance is advised. You can register via the ETS website, the TOEFL official app, or by phone.
Create an ETS Account: Register on the official ETS TOEFL portal.
Identification: A valid International Passport is the only accepted ID for Indian students.
Registration Fee: For 2026, the fee in India is approximately $205 (approx. INR 17,200).
Late Registration: Available until 2 days before the test with a $40 late fee.
Rescheduling: Must be done at least 4 full days before the test date.
