Overview
The IELTS exam measures English proficiency on a scale of 1 to 9. It is divided into four modules: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking. The total test time is approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes. Candidates can choose between the Paper-based test (PB) or the Computer-delivered test (CD), with the latter offering faster results. In 2026, the 'One Skill Retake' option is also available for those who wish to improve their score in just one specific module.
Registration
Registration can be completed online via the IDP India website or offline at authorized centers. It is recommended to book your slot at least 1 month in advance during peak seasons.
Valid Passport: A current and valid International Passport is mandatory for registration and entry in India.
Select Module: Choose between 'Academic' for study or 'General Training' for migration.
Choose Format: Select Computer-delivered for results in 3-5 days or Paper-based for 13 days.
Registration Fee: The standard fee for 2026 is INR 18,000 for both Academic and General Training.
Payment: Fees can be paid online (Card/Net Banking) or via Demand Draft/Bank Deposit.
